The highly competitive DBA High School Boys Fall League held at Christian Heritage School, Trumbull CT finished up on 11/18.  The intense play of the ten teams is summarized on the league page.  Check out the scores and high scorers.

DBA highlights:

  • Check it out!  The DBA goes to the airwaves.  Joe DeSantis will be the game analyst for nine Fairfield U games and two NEC games. 
  • Joe DeSantis would like to thank the staff of the Nets, Knicks and University of New Haven (Head Coach Al Siebert) for allowing him to watch their individual instruction workouts with their respective teams.
  • DeSantis also had lunch with Lawrence Frank and staff and observed the Nets players versus coaches softball game held at Yankee staduim....Jason Kidd is a heck of a shortstop.
  • Mitch Oliver, long time assistant coach with Joe DeSantis, has been named head coach at D3 Albertus Magnus, New Haven, CT.....look for this program to turn around.  Coach Oliver will continue to work with the DBA.
  • Congratulations to Pete Banos (Christian Heritage School, Trumbull, CT), a DBA client and long time QU camper, who just committed to the US Naval Academy.  Navy (and 9 other D1 schools) saw Pete in action at a DBA organized open gym.
  • Good luck to Steve Zazuri (Masuk High School, Monroe, CT), who has committed to Sacred Heart University, Fairfield, CT.  SHU and CCSU saw Steve play at an open gym organized by the DBA.
  • Our best wishes to Charoy Bentley (Harding High School, Bridgeport, CT) who will be playing for Atlantic 10 powerhouse St. Joe's.  The DBA had a workout with Charoy before he left for school.
  • The DBA has held workouts for several local AAU teams including the CT Golden Eagles, the CT Future Stars, and the CT Force programs.
  • Programs are currently underway at the JCC in Bridgeport, Wakeman Boys and Girls Club in Southport, and Frenchtown School in Trumbull.
  • Winter and Spring Break Camps are planned for February 18-22 and April 14-18 at the St. Catherine of Siena McClinch Family Center.
  • The Joe DeSantis summer camp and other venues will be held at Cheshire Academy in Cheshire and the JCC in Bridgeport.
  • Since June the DBA has worked out over 67 players and 32 have signed up for an individual instruction program of 10 sessions or more.  The DBA has worked out 27 teams.

·         Tom Dzurenda and Joe McBride have scheduled 18 practices for their Trumbull Force and St. Theresa 7th Grade Travel Teams.

·         Several local grammar school teams have schedules pratices with the DBA including:

       Ridgefield FCBL 7th and 8th grade travel teams

       St. Jude Varsity Boys, Monroe

       St. Catherine of Siena 4th grade boys parish team

       St. Catherine of Siena 6th grade boys parish team

       St. Catherine of Siena 7th grade boys parish team

       St. Catherine of Siena 8th grade boys parish team

       St. Catherine of Siena Girls Varisty Team.

·         Coaches and players clinics were held at Ridgefield (November 17 - 4:00 to 5:30 pm) and Shelton (November 4 - 11:00 am to 2:00 pm) Grade school basketball programs.

The Ridgefield clinic was attended by 19 players and several coaches from the RBA Ridgefield Basketball Association - We were lucky enough to have Joe come in and do a 90 minute clinic for our house and travel coaches, running drills with two of our travel teams. Ive had nothing but great feedback and would highly recommend that other area programs take advantage of Joes teaching ability and enthusiasm for the game, he can help all of us improve our coaching skills." The Shelton Park and Rec clininc was attended by over 75 players from the Biddy and Varsity Shelton hoop teams - "Whatever the level ...Joe's complete knowledge of player development and of the game will help your child reach his potential - Joe DeSantis (DBA) knows what it takes!" ·         The St. Joe’s Open Gym held on September 16th was very successful with the following schools represented:

o       Army (Head Coach)

o       Sacred Heart (Asst.)

o       New Haven (Head Coach)

o       St. Anselm’s (Head and Asst Coach)

§         Note: Next open gym at St. Joe’s is scheduled for 9/30 from 1 to 3 pm

·         Upward Basketball Camp – Christian Heritage School
